Scarecrow Sprinklers - Why They Work So Well
Not too long ago I was fed up with the animals and pests that were ruining various parts of my yard. All of my landscaping work was going down the tube! I tried a variety of different products on the market. First, I tried to use traps to catch the animals. This had some effect, but still did not stop the problem.
I tried to use predator urine to scare the animals off so they wouldn't even come in my yard. This didn't have much effect either. Finally, as I was about to give up and just admit defeat, a friend of mine recommended I try a scarecrow sprinkler.
A scarecrow sprinkler is designed to repel animals without having to kill them, or use gross things like "predator urine" or other complex schemes. Basically it works like this. You simply hook up your scarecrow sprinkler to a hose.
Next, you want to place your sprinkler in the area where you want to repel the animals. Then you turn the hose on. If you have more than one designated area, use more than one of these sprinklers.
These sprinklers work on motion activation. Basically, when anything comes within the range of the sprinkler, it will kick on and start spraying water everywhere.
The reason why predator urine didn't work well for me was because I had more than one kind of yard pest doing damage to my lawn. With a scarecrow motion-activated sprinkler, it works to stop a whole variety of different animals and pests from disturbing the order of things.
Best of all, it's low maintenance. You just set it up once and forget about it. You don't have to check traps everyday; you don't have to go out and keep buying poison or deal with any of those other hassles.
What are some of the prime animals that this type of lawn sprinkler will keep away? I've used it to stop deer, dogs, cats and even squirrels from making my backyard their playground.
Finally, it is simply a safer option. If you have children running around, you don't want to have to worry about them stepping into your traps or getting into the animal poison. The only problem I have had with scarecrow sprinklers so far is that once I forgot to turn off the hose before adjusting the sprinkler. It detected my motion and gave me a bath!
